Bearscare.info

Did you know that there’s a bearscare.info? It’s written in a language I can’t understand (French, Greek, Korean, etc.) but I did gather from peeping it that the bearscare is a walking stick on which one end can be ignited to scare a bear. Here’s a diagram from the website:

This really isn’t going to work. Bears aren’t stupid. They know that humans CAN’T hurt them. Really the best defense you have you must encounter a bear is kind words, a hug and offerings of food, drink and (in W. VA, Maryland, Tennessee and Mississippi) cigarettes.

Whatever, guys.

Bearscare Year in Review

January 1st, 2009 |

To my readers:

2008 was a year of surprise, poinency and excitment. As I look back over the past 12 months, the following 10 things flow through my mind:

  1. I got married.
  2. Bearscare took hold as a cornerstone of the Internet.
  3. Our largest cat, Skittles, entered our home.
  4. Our smallest cat, Muffin, was born.
  5. We adopted Muffin.
  6. To beautiful polar bear cubs, Knut and Flocke, made the news.
  7. Pythons made the news frequently.
  8. Video of a grizzly bear eating a young moose surfaced.
  9. I renewed my bearscare.org
  10. We found our turtle, Jiminy Cricket, and gave him a loving home.

I look forward to another year of Bearscare.org almost as much as you probably do. Have a happy and safe new year.

i hope you dont get eaten by a bear

February 15th, 2008 |

I am absolutely 110% dedicated to bringing the world relevant information about bears that is also stimulating/fun. I keep an eye on how people find my page using search engines and I am pleased. The title of the post is a search string that led a lucky surfer to bearscare.org yesterday (2/13/2008).

I hope his buddy doesn’t get eaten by a bear and I hope that the content here helps prevent such a tragedy. Please, PLEASE if there’s anything I can do to help your bear problems or misunderstandings, leave a comment or email me. Also, the page recently hit 1, 000 views. I couldn’t do this without your support and I just want to say thanks.
