Some say it isn’t real. This is a lie. Look, any Australian who jokingly warns you of a drop bear wants you to think it’s dry humor. Let me tell you: there are tree creatures in Australia that will drop on your head and hurt you.
What is a drop bear, you ask? I just told you. It’s similar to a koala except vicious. They just wait in trees all day for a victim and then attack. Here’s a Wikipedia article, but it’s all wrong. Watch out for Drop Bears, OK?
drop bears are real. i want to know if there are in england because when i went to pgl in surrey they said that there was drop bears in a forest and we walked through it . we had to hold sticks on our heads and put our hoods up so they didnt fall on us or hurt us.it was strange and i want to know if they are real. also some of my friends have done research on drop bears and found out that they were in the forest but they were not supposed to be there. can someone plz reply, i need to find out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drop bears are native to Australia. They are a marsupial closely related to both the Koala and Tasmanian Devil. The Koala evolved into a tree dweller and became a vegetarian eating only the leaves of specific varieties of trees. They regularly travel across land to get from one clump of trees to another and can travel some distance. The Tasmanian Devil evolved into a ground dwelling carnivor / carrion eater well known for its viscioness and bad temperment. It has one of the highest jawpressure bites of any beast. However the Drop Bear remained omniverous (eats meat and vegitable). Despite many caricatures of the animal it resembles a blend of the two other close branches of its genus, can range in color from light grey- brownish to jet black depending on what part of Australia they are from. They are typically lazy and lie in ambush along animal trails close to water however in drought conditions activally stalk their prey, preferring to attack from above, due to their smallish stature as opposed to their prey, they drop on you from the tree branches so as to deliver a killing bite to the neck before their prey can fight back. A pack of drop bears have been known to devour a horse in one night, its heavy bones are even cracked open by the jaws of the bear to access the marrow. During World War I nearly all Australian units took a mascot with them, many preferring native Australian animals to distinguish our nationality. When the units went into battle the animals were to be left in safe hands. Many of the English organisations who were to care for these animals were unprepared for the Australian natives and could not care for them properly resulting in the deaths of most. Three Battalions took dropbears as a representation of their ferocity. Each battalion had 6 men as animal handlers, two men at a time were required to handle the Dropbears when they were out of their cages they were attached to two leash poles with a man either side to control them. All three killed their English handlers and escaped within a fortnight of being left behind. It is possible that some decendants of these animals are living in Englands heavy woodlands. In Australia the best known deterrent is to use Vegimite (similar to the English Marmite but made with Australian ingrdiants) rubbed into the back of your neck as the Dropbears detest the taste and smell. Many rural Australians like myself develop severe dermatitis from years of use and can no longer use the vegimite solution. The solution we use is to always travel in pairs armed with a short barrel shotgun, not to shoot the bears because all Australian Native animals are protected and besides they are small and quick and almost impossible to shoot, but to shoot the victim befor he is torn to pieces by the bears. Many of the homicides in Australia are actually due to these mercy killings but are intentionally misreported so as to protect the tourism and immigration industries.

wow ken your a fuck wit nobody trys to scare off tourists with this old shit any more what age are you living in, ppl dont listen to him, KOALA bear thats all this is, only thing you have to worry about with these guys is there claws and they will only scratch you if you try and grab them and if you would like to know they pretty much only eat gum leaves in australia

Yes koalas have sharp claws which are more than capable of killing a human if provoked i dont thinl they would have the energy. There diet is so poor in nuetrition that they sleep 19 hours a day and spent 4 of those 5 hours awake grazing on highly toxic food. I hav never heard of drop bears and thibnnk thyey would be more declarated if they are as vicoius as some sited say thet are. I dont think they are reaql as they soubd like a folk story or something you tell your friend when theres no comversation topic and lie about something complte;y random. Even still i’ll keep my eyes open.

i went pgl is well and they told me there were drop bears but in devils punchbowl and there can be in pgl because one girl that i know called demi got bitten by 1 and no her fingers are balckk soo trust mee they are real,i will give u 1 more reason because when i went pgl this boy called jacob told us 2 come out in the night so we could play ambush butt where we played ambush was in the woods and jacop told uss dat we hadd 2 wear hat with a stick which was really wierd butt we had 2 do that because there were dropp bears i wass really scared when he told us. btw plgg is wicked i loved every min of it
i went on pgl the 16th march 2009.
we had to put sticks on our head because chris the instructor told us they land on our head a rip hair out. the wood was called drop bear forest my mates and i got totaly scared, we all leged it to the end.chris had said the sticks will protect us as they fall on the head of us and the stick will go up the bum.
Im told that the colour of the hair they eat they turn that colour.so please let me know if they are real or not.xx

i went to pgl. i done everything there,but at the drop-bear territory i had to hold up a strong stick above my head.i was totally scared!
my teacher got attacked by a baby drop-bear! but the instructor,DJ,booted it away so the teacher lived to tell the tale. Be careful peeps, drop-bears DO exsist i promise

I dont think they are real. I went to pgl and went through the forest, If they did exist dont u think that you wouldnt be aloud to walk through the forest?

omg i went to pgl marchants hill in surrey too. they made us put sticks on our heads. o and all u ppl sayin that u saw 1 there. u didnt. they make someone dress up as a bear, and run past everyone whilst theyre crouching down with sticks on their heads and if they were real they woUldnt be allowed to risk letting us walk through the forest. but it was absolutely hillarious. we put dirty sticks on our heads and our hoods up and shouted look at me im a tellytubby. A drop bear (or dropbear) is a non-existent[1] Australian marsupial. Drop bears are commonly said to be unusually large, vicious, carnivorous koalas that inhabit treetops and attack their prey by dropping onto their heads from above.[2] They are an example of local lore intended to frighten and confuse outsiders and amuse locals, similar to the jackalope, hoop snake, wild haggis or snipe.

Ok PGL is filled with lies, drop bears DONT exist. If the instructors there said that the speed bike chase scene in the movie Star Wars was filmed there, they also lied. It was infact filmed in Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park in the US.

and emily i saw one and thay said thay r real and someone i new got biton by one now u know that they r REAL!
